Physical Therapy
Sometimes an illness or injury requires physical therapy. Eureka Community Hospital's (ECH) therapists work one-on-one with patients to help restore function, relieve pain and minimize disability. Services include:

Light, heat, water, sound and electronic waveforms

Exercise and massage

KINCOM machine to measure muscle strength (for work or sports injuries)

Return to Work program, which offers work/physical capacity evaluations and work hardening services (full- or half-day sessions)

Industrial education (both at the hospital and at area businesses)

School Outreach program (for developmentally delayed children, at their schools)
Speech Therapy
Speech therapy may be needed for some inpatients and outpatients to evaluate and correct communication disorders as a result of stroke, illness or injury. The hospital's speech therapists work with sensitivity and patience to help redevelop communication skills.
Occupational Therapy
When there's limited function due to illness, disability or injury, occupational therapists at ECH work to maximize the patient's ability to function independently. Through a variety of exercises, treatment and education, occupational therapists work with patients to restore the ability to perform daily activities independently and to regain important skills. Occupational therapy may be prescribed for many conditions, including:

Audiology
Audiology is used to diagnose, evaluate and treat clients with hearing problems. ECH's audiologist is licensed by the state of Illinois and certified by the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association. Services include:
